This area is known for its rich history and natural beauty, which attracts tourists and residents to rest and relax. This village represents a harmonious combination of history, natural beauty and modern life, which attracts visitors to discover and relax in a unique environment.
The building is located in a scattered development of several dozen buildings located hundreds of metres apart. To the north of the building there is a pond, near the building there is preserved small sacral architecture in the form of small chapels. To the north of the house is a forest, the other sides overlook meadows.
Genius loci
The building was built in 2nd half of 19th century. Barn was added later, probably in the begining of 20th century. Household originally served as local german pub. As the owners had changed, the building got through many structural changes, mostly during the period 1985- 1998. The final purpose of these modifications was to rebuild the house to a family holiday house typical for czechoslovakia of the 80’s. The whole procedure corresponded to limited financial possibilities of the former owner, and also to the situation in czech society during 80’s.
E.g. The original cowshed was rebuilt to washroom, wc (toilettes) and sauna. Similarly, the original dancing hall and saloon (area of 100m2) was divided into 3 separated rooms in 1990. The main room (area of 80 m2) was rebuilt to a living room with fireplace, sleeping place on bunk bed, kitchenette, dinette and bar during 1991-1995. The other rooms serve as bedroom and temporary table tennis room.
The architectural study deals with changes to the new use of the barn in particular, which will incorporate swimming pool, sauna and a third will be designated as facilities for equipment and storage.
EXTERIOR
It is a larger family house covered with a gable roof with a rectangular floor plan. Perpendicular to the house is a barn, which is in a state of disrepair. Earlier building modifications have partially degraded the original valuable architectural expression of the house. The study assumes the preservation of parts of the perimeter masonry if the structural and technical condition allows it. The truss will be dismantled and some parts may be reused. The most significant proposed change is the proposed large new windows, which, in accordance with tradition, are designed as divided windows.
A gradual sensitive restoration and a partial return to the original appearance of the building is envisaged.
INTERIOR
The interior of the barn is considered in light colors. We propose a combination of natural local stone with light-coloured tiles. Contrasting with the soft shades will be the exposed roof truss of the building, which will be given a more distinctive ochre coating.
